New Year Spring Cleaning(of thoughts and goals)

Hi folks!

I have the habit to do self-reflection before the New Year approach(in my case is before lunar New Year a.k.a. Chinese New Year approach this time 'cos a bit too late to reflect in time for 2010, Jan 1..haha...talking about procrastination?? Actually it is due to a series of uncertainties in my life then...with career change, nursery-hunting for KY and lotss more!!)

Anyway, when I was out of clue on where to start, I look back at my post on 29 Things I hope to do @ Age 29, and thought why not start from there....

So here it is the list I've got during my birthday month. Let's see how much is "completed" thus far!

  1. Restart my jogging or exercise regime together with DH and kids and even with like-minded friends. [In progress, doing light stretching exercise indoor]
  2. Learn and start to bake…[Need more help, Oven not working!! :( ]
  3. Pick up 29 new skills…woot…what are they..decide as and when they are required…but below are some of them:[Side-tracked, am picking up more on communication skills rather due to recent job-hunting and nursery-hunting plus communication exercise with DH]
    1. Baking (as in no.3..wow so this skill has more emphasis in my plans haha)
    2. Route learning (am rather weak in reading map or lack sense of direction :P)

  21. Start some homeschooling with kids even if I am not yet able to be a WAHM/SAHM.[Need more consistency and ENERGY!!!]
  22. Set up my bookshelves plus kids one.[Bookshelves done, need to be more organized!]

    1. Mobile phone – To Do List, Reminders, Birthdays Alert, maps, networking etc
    2. Condo facilites – gymn, swimming pool, condo friends and committee
    3. Living healthy parents and siblings – more gathering, visiting and caring, pooling resources/helping each other
  24. Jot down memorable events in journal/blog/etc [Yeah!! This one almost 88%?? LOL]
  25. Put up family pictures in my home, in-law and parent’s place.Yeah!! I did! With the help from EOE Online! Check out my blog entry here]
  26. Stay in touch with old buddies.[Thanks to IM and Facebook! Yep but space to improve!]
  27. Relearn swimming (yup I am not very good at swimming..really afraid of water type, need DH help on this.)[Not yet]
  28. Practice good PR, budgeting and organizing skills in all aspects.[Way to go!!!]
  29. Clear all short-term debts (house and car loan not yet included), be debt free and start to plan for some cushion saving by hook or by crook.[In progress, cut off one credit card thanks to the newly-implemented govt. RM50 service charge!! ]
Phew...not even 50% done and my target of FINAL REVIEW is on my 30th Birthday!

Way to go!!! Gambatei Molly! You can do it!

Will work on more on the list and my new year aspirations!

Stay tuned!

G-Force X adventure with DH at Sunway Lagoon Extreme Park

Hi folks! Howdy ...howdy...when was the last time you and your life partner(a.k.a husband/wife) went for some "twosome time"...it's very important as it can keep the "sparks" going in a relationship!

When I have no one to pass the extra free Sunway Lagoon tickets(to all parks!!) after my winning entry in
Week Six Project Alpha by Nuffnang, and the fact that when I brought my kids and dad along on my previous trip, both DH & I missed the Extreme Park which are not suitable for kids and elderly.

So I asked DH, why not we go ourselves? Just the two of us? For some twosome "pak toh"(dating) time!

I think it's been quite sometime since we go out for some adventures ever since our two lovely kids arrived!

One of the "crazy things or adventures that I remembered was when we just drove up to Genting Highland for a cuppa ice-blended coffee at Coffee Bean up on the chilly hills at 2-3am.

And since DH is gamed for it, plus he had wanted to try the flying fox and other adventures he saw at Extreme Park the other day!

So off we went and I think the highlights of the day is we SAT on the G-Force X!!!
(Picture below from Google, too shy to post up my video here as I am screaming like "super-horified" woman!)
Actually before we sign a form to declare that we willingly participate in this adventure and they hold no responsiblity..bla...bla..bla form, it began to drizzle...[haha..silently I am dancing in my heart..thinking yeah...can escape :P cos I am super duper afraid of height!!! Not to mentioned being thrown up within 2 seconds, faster than Ferrari F1 as I was told...eiks], then the guy said, " Yes, we can still proceed provided there is no thunderstorm.."

Oh my...so DH asked me to quickly sign and we are the LAST "crazy" :P couple to go for this G-Force X adventure for the day!

I kept reassuring myself that it is NOT SCARY!!! If u c my video(yea they charge RM10 to record the video for you!!!), you would be laughing loud! :P

That was the highlight of the adventure we had at Sunway Lagoon Extreme Park. I made DH brought me from the lest scary ride to the MOST exciting one which is G-Force X!! This is not included in the
Extreme Park though, we have to pay for the ride! It cost us MYR50(after 50% discount) for a couple ride(if you a Malaysian and possess a Mykad).

And after the ride, we were given our video cd(cost MYR10), a certificate of "insanity" and a coupon which enables us to try G-Force X again for three times(chop and the fourth time FOC). I was told that there's only two G-Force X sites in Malaysia, one is Sunway Lagoon and the other one located at KL Tower.

Wanna know more about what we tried? Besides the SCREAM PARK, we tried some other stuff and the one which I love most is the Flying Fox..nice...like a bird flying low in the sky...free and cool...haha...

Stay tuned for more posting about this twosome moments! Now we should really do this more often! Should schedule in our "twosome" time weekly or bi-monthly...anyone interested to babysit for us? haha...Just kidding...

Cheers!

What are friends for me?

Hi folks,

I am writing this post with a favourite song playing on my Ipod..."If We Hold On Together" by Diana Ross. One of my favourite song.

It brings about memories of the good time spent with friends. Friends of all sort, old buddies, colleagues, ex-colleagues, blogger friends, online friends or even someone of a brief encounter but gave such impact on my life by mere words of encouragement or a kind act!

Good and worthy friends to me are one:

1. I can talk to about just everything under the sun.
2. One whom I don't have to be afraid for appearing/sound silly.
3. One who are game to do "crazy" things with me.
4. One who I continue to think of and missing even though we are far apart.
5. One who can comfort and lift me up unconditionally.
.
.
.
.
.
.
The list can go on and on...and how many such good and worthy friends you have?

Cherish them! Cherish the moment with your good friends!

Let them know you care!

Shower them with such care and love like how they have done to us!

Have you been catching up with your friends lately? Why not do it today? Or even NOW!

Thanks to ALL my friends who have been there for me!! ( You know you are the ONE~!)

Cheers!

The Challenges faced by a WAHM and WAHM's kids

Hi folks,

As promised, I would like to shed some thoughts of the challenges faced by a WAHM and WAHM's kids.

In the olden days, that is during our parents' generation, it is a common sight to see women working from home doing various jobs ranging from being a babysitter, a tailor, or a baker making cookies, cakes and etc.

In current generation, women who work from home have new entrants, i.e. women who used to work in multi-national companies or MNCs and were holding good position, great income after spending years pursuing their studies and enjoying a high-flying career.

These people have chose a "greener pastures" which is to care for their family as a full-time mom. Kudos to these women!

For some of these women, they may need to take a pay-cut or take up a lesser income or lower-paying job in return for a more flexible time with their kids and family.

Thus, financially, it may proves to be a challenge when time is gained.

So for some WAHM/D, it means that they might have to:

1. Look for alternatives local or nearer destination rather than spending a big fortune on expensive holiday destination like they used to be.
One WAHD used to joke and share with the rest of us, WAHM-wannabes, that, one of the thing he misses most after becoming a WAHD is that he used to fly Business Class, but now he has to make do with economy class.

2. Limit their choices of extra classes like ballet class, piano lessons.
One WAHM, who quited her job told me that one of the noticeable difference when she became a WAHM; is now she would need to think twice and really shortlist her choices when it comes to enrolling her kids to these extra-curricular activities which doesn't comes cheap nowadays!

3. Slice off the expenditure allocated for expensive spa, facial, cosmetics, branded bags or shoes, etc.
Many WAHM out there, you do agree right, you can no longer spend on Coach bags, Jimmy Choo's shoes and expensive outfits as often anymore! Unless of course you are doing really well at your WAH biz which is not impossible!

For WAHM's kids, the challenges would be quite similar financially too:

1. Not much international holiday travelling
These days, kids would boast or "share" where they have been during school holidays when school reopen or before the holidays start! Talking about peer influence and peer pressure......

2. Cannot afford to attend many/any extra-curricular activities like art, drama, music, ballet, you name it!
When I was young, I was the odd one in my class when everyone goes to a tuition centre after class except me. I spent my afternoon napping and studying at home. I also don't have the luxury to go for music lessons, 'cos if I get to go, it means my parents have to be fair and able to send the rest of my siblings to one too!

3. No frequent purchase/update of latest PSP, Mobile phone, etc.
These days, kids own a mobile phone and PSP as young as primary school children! And they are looking at the latest model every now and then! Talking about peer influence and peer pressure again!

And these challenges, when look at the positive note, it can be a good experience too!

1. Travelling becomes a creative adventure to scout for the cheapest and most attractive places to go and it becomes a luxury and an event to look forward each time.

When things become scarce, people tend to treasure it more, isn't it! And people learn to improvise and make the best of of everything! Human species are indeed survivor!

2. No fully-packed for kids with extra-curricular activities and WAHM/D need not spent most of their time on the road, paying tolls to drive their kids around different places of "interest".

For my case, I don't really miss out on the tuition part, in fact I went for a English tutoring session during one of the school holiday just for the experience, and boy, did I hated it! I stopped after barely one month because it is really tiring and crowded. So ask your kids if they really do need the tutoring or merely the socialising part of this activity ;)

3. Items are put under Wish List, and to be earned for. Nothing comes easily, and these been taught since young!

Before I even finished my SPM exam, I have applied for scholarships to further my study because that is what I wanted to do, i.e. to further my study and I knew I have to find a way to fulfill it without burning a hole in my parents' pocket.

Children these days should be trained to work for it! Whatever items they desired, they should give in an equal amount of effort.

So challenges made into a character building part of a child and to the parents as well...

What say you? Ready for the WAHM parenthood? Let's share!

Cheers!

This post is also published in Mombloggersplanet.com as part of my monthly contribution to their column :)

Do pay them a visit folks, if you are a passionate mommy blogger/reader too!

Happy reading and sharing!

Finger Counting Shone

One.....

Actually Shone is trying to show "GOOD" sign, but somehow both Shone and KY tend to show the index/pointer finger instead of thumb for "Good" sign/thumbs-up! Not sure why, does your kids do the same?

And this is FOUR..

Not sure where he learnt this...perhaps he's trying to tell others that he is now 4 years old and can follow his jie jie to nursery!!!

Haha...

Ice Skating Adventure with KY

Sorry for the very blurred image..as DH was taking from outside the skating rink with one hand while the hand carrying Shone.

I brought KY along for Ice-skating adventure after winning some tickets for the Project Alpha.

But guess what, as mommy herself do not know how to skate, I am more like a mommy crab teaching the baby crab how to walk! And both of us fall at the entrance itself ...luckily we both dressed in our jeans!

I had to hold KY with one hand and the other hand holding on strongly on the side wall...had pains on my shoulder and back after that..signs of getting old....

And after going about 3 quarter around the ice-skating rink, KY wanted me to CARRY her!!! How can I when the floor is so slippery and I cannot even balance myself :P So I told her, "Only left a few steps and we'll reached the exit...mommy will hold you, let's go!".

And when I asked her whether she likes ice-skating? KY replied yes.

And when I asked her again whether she want to continue skating? KY said No!!! And added next time when she grows up she'll be able to skate as well as those big sisters she saw, wearing those lovely skating costume! lol...

By the way, the ice-skating rink at Sunway Pyramid is open to children age 3 and above, so KY barely reach the minimum age requirement...and I thought it would be a nice experience or good exposure for her ;) Plus, mommy herself has not tried ice-skating herself :P

Anyway, folks, if you are interested to go to Pyramid Ice-Skating Rink(best to go for couples :P hehe...*wink* get what I mean? Provided perhaps the guy can skate better than the girl...lol), check out their site here)!

Cheers!

My Valentine’s Day

Hi folks,

This year(2010), the first day of Chinese New Year actually falls on a romantic day, Yep, i.e. Valentine's Day!

I personally feel that Valentine's Day might not need to spend with an opposite gender. We can also have fun(in my case) with our girlfriends, especially those who are still unattached!

Now, if I have a chance to spend my Valentine's Day with Anne Hathaway(picture below) whom I fell in love with after watching her movie, The Princess Diaries (2001).

And the fact that Anne Hathaway is a vegetarian as well(so am I), I would love to bring her to a cosy Vegan and Vegetarian Outlet(LovingHut) near my place for a "romantic" meal together!

First, I shall order this Loving Hut Cuppuccino for both of us.

Then, I will like to let her try out this Malaysians all-time favourite, popular dish- Nasi Lemak.

Next, I shall order this icy "ice kacang" another popular dish amongst Malaysian for her to clear the warmth from the Malaysia weather & friendly Malaysians as well as from the earlier nasi lemak dish.

Of course I will not forget to snap a picture of me with Anne Hathaway for remembrance!

And if I managed to win a ticket to the premiere of

Valentine’s Day starred by her, it will be COMPLETE & PERFECT!!

How would you spend your Valentine's Day?

Hope it will be a happy one for you!

CHeers!
