Need to polish my "Debating" skills...

Hi folks,

This morning I had a rather unhappy moment with somone. I felt hurt by the frank and not-very-right word used.

Seriously, words can kill....words can also lift a person up.

And, I feel that I need to polish my "Debating", "Reasoning" and "Clarification" skills...for all areas...

Anyone care to spar with me?

Thanks...for [listening].

Cheers and have a lovely weekend...to me too hopefully...my day is spoilt by "words"...time to get back on track with kinder words to people around me...
And stop giving people the means to hurt me...so easily..

S: mom, is that(taxi) a police car?

Many more..I like to note this down for Down the memory lane trip in the future ;)

What question(s) did your kids raise today? Encourage the ????? It's good and only normal for them...keep the curiosity alive!

How much is your Engagement Ring?

Hi folks!

As I was blog-hopping one day, I stumbled on Tim's blog(Nuffnang Co-founder) which i read regularly. His entry on "How much should an engagement ring cost?" which comes with a link to the Engagement Ring Calculator shared by another reknown blogger Shaolintiger (yep, that is the category I put under my Google Reader where all my frequent blog list has its own categories; reknown, parenting, overseas-parenting, vegetarian, homeschooling, blogging tips, contests, etc...)

I cannot stop my curiousity and did a calculation...jeng jeng...here's how much my engagement ring should cost:

RM2858.57

But, nope, I don't recall mine cost that much hehe but I think my engagement present (a mobile phone) cost more than the ring? hehe..cannot recall...

What about you? How much does your engagement ring cost?

Actually how much it cost, does it matters a lot to you? It doesn't to me as I am not one who wears ring daily. All the daily household chores I need to perform makes the "practical" me ...not wearing my ring most of the time....

To me, a ring is just a symbol of union and love.

I am sure you have seen those romantic scene in dramas where the guy gave such DIY rings made out of love...does the gal mind the DIY ring made from straws, paper, etc, ....nope, the guy won the girl with sincerity and genuine love ;)

Cheers to a lovey-dovey day!

(Note: Picture source: http://www.artaurea.com/jewelries/25-kay-eppi-nolke, a site which sells such special rings...stumbled on google while searching for a suitable ring image to illustrate my e.g. in this post; any copyright infringement is not intentional; pls. leave a comment should you mind you picture appearing here for non-commercial use. Thank you.)

The Benefits gained from a Break-up

Hi folks,

This thought came to me after a series of events happening to friends around me; which also made me reflected on my first break-up. No matter how long the relationship is, there is bound to be difficult moments. Moments where we wish to spend in solidarity. Moments where we need a shoulder to cry on.

Break-up is like a thunderstorm, followed with a great downpour and then drizzling rain…and lastly followed with a sunny day after the sad moments have moved on.

It works like the rain too, it cleanses the spirit, awaken our inner emotions and set a clearer picture on how and what type of relationship are we truly seeking. We would definitely want something worth working on, someone worth spending with and a relationship worth pouring our love and time into. It redefines how we look at relationship as a whole.

Recently, I met with a young couple who broke up after brief courtship; and another married couple who had divorced after years of marriage with three lovely children, the eldest being 18 years old. To me the first is a pity yet being still young, I feel this young love can still heal and move on and probably can find someone better. What about the latter, I can only imagine the pain the married couple and the kids would feel.

It brings back to the thoughts of divorce. Now, if we do not want to reach this point, we should certainly make conscious effort to keep the marriage alive, keep the love flame burning and keep the communication channel active.

I pray that anyone who has gone through break-up would gain much lessons and gain more strength and wisdom from it. Make the Best of the life lessons.

Live and love always….

Cheers!
[This post is dedicated to all my friends who are facing a momentary difficult phase now and pray that they will regain joy and zest in life back very soon!]

Reward yourself after hard work of workout!

Hi folks!

It's been part of my resolution to stay fit and not only fit but fit enough to resume some light competitive running events. I used to participate in those running events back in schooling time.

By having such target, it is hoped that I will be disciplined enough to keep to my exercise regime. Now, seeing another friend talking about Standard Chartered KL Marathon, makes me thinking whether I should go for it :)

Have you been training for a cross-country run or been through grueling sessions for a badminton match, hiking, etc? Heard of a full body sports massage? This is the first time I heard of it at least commercially...as I would have thought the national sports athletes would most probably entitled for such treatment...But wow...now even normal people like us get to reward ourselves, and hopefully win that medal or matches!

Interested? Check out links before to find out more!

What is a home without proper Internet connection?

Hi folks!

I heard over the radio few days back that Malaysian homes are well-equipped with Internet access, it was a 25% increase!

And that is not surprising at all.

I can see my neighbour is having video conference with his 2 year old daughter who is cared by her grandma in their hometown.

And as we often back to my in-law's place, DH also got another wifi modem so that we get to surf and online on our mobile or notebook when we are back home....talking about constant connectivity. P14G is going to hook us up with Home Broadband and On-The-Go Broadband. Check out more details and shop around for good deals here:

Fruit meals?

Hi folks!

Today I overheard on the radio that the school will be asked to reduce selling high sugar products at the canteen.

All listeners of the radio station I listened to were asked to give their input on what healthier options the school canteen can introduce in their menu.

One of the menu that came into my mine is a bowl of fruits...which is awfully delicious and healthy too (even for adults!)

Now, check out these fruit meals promotion!

Vocab 5: What new words I learn from the "status" msg today?

Hi folks!

The new word I picked up today (few days back actually, considering this is a back-dated post :D)?

I think many of us are used to seeing friends and families putting status on their FB, IM etc.

And some would put quotation, breaking news of the day or for me for instance, I might put some status to indicate the state of my mind at that particular moment or words of encouragement for others or for myself.

This word "mire" which I came across from the IM status of my previous superior, who I think is striving to manage his PHD…I wish him ALL THE BEST OF LUCK!

mire  (mr)
n.
1. An area of wet, soggy, muddy ground; a bog.
2. Deep slimy soil or mud.
3. A disadvantageous or difficult condition or situation: the mire of poverty.

If anyone of you felt yourself in "mire" state now, I pray you will get through the phase soon and be stronger from it!

I like to quota from my friend's post:

"If I fail, I try again, and again, and again..."
If YOU fail, are YOU going to try again?
It matters how you're going to FINISH...
Are you going to finish STRONG?
We are put in situations to build our character... not destroy us.
The tensions in our life are there to strengthen our convictions... not to run over us.

By Nick Vujicic

Very true indeed!

Cheers!

Puduraya Terminal to begin operations tomorrow!

Hi folks,

U heard the news? U seen the pictures of our reformed and refurbished Puduraya Bus Terminal?

Puduraya Terminal to begin operations tomorrow! (refer TheStar Online here).

When I saw in the news yesterday, I told my children, see that's the new Bus station.

KY asked," Why they just opened? Why there's no one there? What is the place for?"

I said, " 'Cos the place has just been renovated."

KY asked again, " Why need to renovate?"

I said, " 'Cos last time the place used to be hot and crowded."

KY said, " Oh...hot and small is it mom?"

I said, " Yeeah....and now it looks clean and nice rite."

KY said, "Yes."

So are you as eager to visit the place as I do?

Although I rarely go to that area anymore and rarely sit on a bus nowadays, but that place reminded me of those good old times, when I had to take bus every weekdays to go to college...and thus I am quite familiar with the shops around there then...;)

What about you? What memories you've got for our Puduraya Terminal? Have you visited the newly-renovated building?

Cheers!

Owned a Tupperware?

Hi folks!

I believe many households own a Tupperware. When I was young, I remembered we have many Tupperware items at home, ranging from water bottles, containers, cups, etc.

As for me, I also invested in Tupperware's One Touch containers. It is so useful when I was breastfeeding and had bought a small tin of formula milk when my child is 6 months old and when my milk supply is dwindling after returning to work. The Tupperware’s One Touch container is a lifesaver. It helps to keep the formula milk fresh in the airtight form plus it is easier to open and close too.
Now, do you wish to own a Tupperware and keep your food stay crisp and fresh too; and last longer too?

Check out the Tupperware event below at KLCC Aquaria!

I have got mine...have you?

Hi folks! Finally got my goodies...modern cloth pad and cloth wipes for the kids at Mamapatch.com. The anniversary sales ends today(15Apr)..hurry if you like to try or switch to a greener lifestyle! ;) Cheers!

Now, I have not personally gone through any traditional masseuse (yea, not even tukang urut during my confinement time as I was healing from c-section and are too afraid to take the pain :P), but I am quite convinced at the after-effect of a masseuse can do to us.

Where to go for affordable trip?

Hi folks,

I used to make it a point to travel at least once a year to a new country when I started working.

I would accumulate my savings and my annual leave for a learning trip + adventure.

But after having kids, I rarely have the time and luxury to go.....but now..wow...seems like more affordable.

Look at this affordable trip to GoldCoast (yea..it's Gold Coast Australia ...not Gold Coast Morib :P ..

Time for a get away and this time, I'm going to GoldCoast. Too affordable to be true. #AAXGoldCoast

What a dream comes true!

Prioritise our life

Hi folks!

Time is precious. Every parent would know that. In fact everyone should know this fact. It is whether or not we acknowledge this fact and take action to priorities our life or we simply ignore it.

I wonder if anyone of you experience this. You received an invitation to a gathering with your friends whom you have not met for sometime.  You very much wanted to make this event happened and made all the necessary arrangement, i.e. babysitting arrangement, seeking "approval" from dearest partner, pre-cooked meals in the fridge/thermal pot, etc. And then, prior to the big day, you received another more important event invitation that is "family-related" event.

Now, how to you make your choice and prioritise your time? Both are something you need to attend. One pre-arranged and another one is family event that it seems that you had to attend. Do you stick to your earlier agreed event or attend the more important ones?

I must admit, I usually don't like to reply immediately whether I could attend an event or visit someone until the very last minute as I have had the phobia of rejecting others after agreeing in the first place. I really had too much of such instances that makes it hard for me to say Yes at the very first invitation notice, normally would RVSP at the last given date.

Same goes for blogger events, it usually takes so much effort and persistence to make our attendance happened. These are really what experienced by most parents' folks I believe. Now, how do you again prioritise in this case?

I would love to hear from everyone and also I am sharing the guideline I used for my decision-making.

Heard of the story below?

time

"Imagine life is a game in which you are juggling five balls. The balls are called work, family, health, friends, and integrity.  And you're keeping all of them in the air. But one day you finally come to understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. The other four balls—family, health, friends, integrity—are made of glass. If you drop one of these, it will be irrevocably scuffed, nicked, perhaps even shattered. And once you understand the lesson of the five balls, you will have the beginnings of balance in your life".

Thus, for parents folks like me, eventually the welfare of my kids and family comes first. As good friends would understand and would stick with us no matter the distance and time constraint. You can choose to differ in this case.

So, what do you have to say on this- topic of prioritizing our life? Please do share!

Cheers!

This post is also published in Mombloggersplanet.com as part of my monthly contribution to their column :)

Do pay them a visit folks, if you are a passionate parenting blogger/reader too!

Happy reading and sharing!

How does chocolate and game link?

Hi folks!

Do you love chocolate? Now who doesn't...unless you are having some kind of allergy for chocolate or for some lactose intolerant....for the milk contained in most chocolates.

How about playing games? Yeah....Facebook games application is mushrooming.....

I used to asked my ex-colleagues(mostly programmers) why do they like to play those games like Farmville etc...(pardon me...I am a klutz at such games application and I also prefer the real farming rather than online-based...hehe). They said, "'Cos it doesn't require thinking or don't have to use our brain."

So in that sense, it is a way to release tension and their mind...

Now, if chocolates and games makes you release tension, you might like to check out this game and win something related to chocolate ;)

How do you Facebook?

Hi folks!

These days smart phones and technologies changed the way we live and surf the net.

I noticed most younger generation would Facebook via their mobile. So do many working adults.

KY First Day of Music Class

Hi folks,
KY started her first lesson at music school last Sat. She enjoyed tremendously. Let's see if she is keen to continue learning it..then I gotta hunt or shop for a electone keyboard or a piano so that she gets to practice at home.

Any experience on what type to get for a beginner? Should I go straight for piano? I am thinking maybe get a second hand electone for her? Stil thinking...any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Vocab 4: What new words I learn from the blog today?

Hi folks!

Did I ever mentioned or do I even need to mention blog-hopping or blog reading is part of my daily reading ritual as well :D but of course not all bloggers used the standard English, as some do use some native words or short form. But still it's a new word learn.

So what new word I picked up today?

From a blog entry by Hidayah Ismawi, posted at Mombloggersplanet.com:

The only sport at which I was passable at was badminton. Personally, I blame it on poor hand eye co-ordination, which basically is a polite term for being a total klutz.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Klutz[klʌts] may refer to:

  • Most commonly, a clumsy person

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

1. A clumsy person.
2. A stupid person; a dolt.

History: Yiddish klots, from Middle High German kloz, block, lump, from Old High German.
(Source: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/klutz)

This word does sound very German indeed.....so what field are you a Klutz?

For me, it would be dancing. What about you? Do share :)
(By the way, there's nothing wrong being Klutz in some ways, it doesn't mean you are a failure ok...I sign up for 3 month dance classes and master few dancing stunts ;) too...after knowing my weak point!)

Cheers!

Humor in Chinese Character Learning- Part 1

Hi folks,

I am on my learning path to master or rather improve my literacy in Chinese. I can speak Mandarin pretty well as I used to watch Chinese drama series back in my hometown (we are very near to Singapore and their Chinese tv series are quite nice!..ways before we have 8TV or ntv7 which offers better quality Chinese shows).

During my learning adventures, there are bound to be mistakes here and there and some really funny :P

I wish to share with you a conversation I had with my elder sis over the Instant Messaging (IM) system about her new haircut which looks nice...a good makeover!

Molly: 世界上没有臭人,之有蓝人(This world has got no ugly people, only lazy people.)
Sis:     haha 臭人=smelly ppl ( orang busuk) and 蓝人= blue man haha
Molly: sorry. lol
Sis:      but i understand wat u trying to say haha
Molly:  is (chou= ugly) and (lan = lazy) Correct one should be:
             世界上没有,之有...

I always have a hard time discerning which character to use as my vocabulary in Chinese is very limited. There are so many same sound yet different meaning Chinese character :P..haha...and yeah...from here, you can know my elder sister's chinese is far better than mine :P even though we both study in Convent school 'cos she is more diligent in learning her chinese character since young.

I have to catch up soon before KY starts her primary school!

Wish me luck and here's some sharing of laughter and humor in my journey of learning Chinese..hehe..more to share as I tread on the path!

So hereby I like to quote (my own :P)

世界上没有人,之有 ( This world has got no stupid people, only lazy people)

So yes!!! Way to go...diligently brushing up my Chinese here! At the same time...hahahaha..have a belly good laugh over it...:P

Cheers!
