Subsidised Mammogram Test for Malaysian Women

Hi folks,

Just thought of sharing this. I came across a brochure at a Private Medical Centre where I accompanied my mom for a mammography test, which stated that Malaysia government provides subsidy for mammogram at selected LPPKN clinics nationwide. This started during the Budget 2007..gosh..I am unaware of it..honestly!

Mammography is the process of using low-dose amplitude-X-rays (usually around 0.7 mSv) to examine the human breast and is used as a diagnostic and a screening tool. The goal of mammography is the early detection of breast cancer, typically through detection of characteristic masses and/or microcalcifications.

The procedure cost us MYR200 (excluding the ultrasound, chest x-ray, blood test which totalled up to near MYR600...gasp...).

So, I strongly encourage those who needed to go for mammogram and is under the qualified group (check out the criteria on their website here) or download their information sheet here.

For high-risk women of certain age-group, they are definitely qualified to go for this.

So, check out more information on it!

Cheers and have a Happy & Healthy Monday!
