New Year New Me

Hi Folks!

The status i am placing on my IM now is Veränderung in German, which means change.

Change is inevitable in life...more so in this Monkey Year..my year..yeah..i am indirectly revealing my age here. Truly, as I aged, i find my metabolism slowed down a lot. I need to regained my energy by changing my diet, habits and lifestyle.

Started to eat proper meals(no over-eating..now how many of you is the "MPSJ" of your family? I am..and last weekend after attended a Health Talk called "Diet of the New Era", something their speaker said strikes me...anything that is excessive (including overeating and things which our body couldn't digest) is considered toxins to our body.

In this era where our food, air and environment are so polluted, we can start reducing the toxins our liver needs to clear from very basic steps, by not overeating, and of course eat healthier and greener (fresh food, less processed food...will share more in another blog entry of all the inspirations I've got from the talk).

So folks, today I just put on my jogging shoes and off i went to the nearest gym near my house. It FEELs so good to be sweating again....really...i hope I can keep the momentum going....and it feels great to act on my aspirations this year...New Year New Me...

How has the start of the year been for you? It's not too late to "Just Do It!" folks...so let's continue to be our better self each day..

Cheers!

Conversation of the birds, red blood, and....

Hi folks!

I would love to mark down for yesterday - conversation with my first baby, KY.

She told me that she loves Pendidikan Jasmani subject and the book as it teaches her a lot about her current favourite topic- Cheerleading.

And it also taught her something about the mentrual cyle etc.

Wow, yes, at age 10, they are being introduced this topic at school. So started a brief conversation about the 28 cycle, the eggs, the "red" blood, etc.

Never knew this day would come so fast....

And, she told me that her classmate already had period. Yes, kids these days grow up fast (is it due to the food intake? Formula milk?). Thus, no wonder they started this topic in standard 4 when back in my school days, I only learn this in Secondary school?

Time to dig up or check up Mr. Google.

Kids grow up faster than I could pick up the speed..

Amazingly I now have to learn about the world of a pre-teen, primary schooler and a toddler. Bring on the books once more.. :)

Cheers!

Choices

Hi folks!

We faced decision making chores (opps) all the time. When one point we're lucky we are given a chance to make a choice. Yet it can also be quite straining to make a choice from the sea of options?

Try listen to this Tedtalk and see if you acknowledge or agree with what you understood about  "Choices" in your life.

Cheers!

Confession and Slow Down

Hi folks!

I have a confession to make. I have always thought i am a parent who doesn't like be Tiger Mom or Helicopter Mom.

However, it is not enough, I find myself always hurrying my kids around and have no patience or tolerance for slowness or
lack of discipline.

This morning, I woke up at 5.30am, preparing myself for the day while waking my daughter up (she's in morning school and needs to be ready for her
transporter by 6.35am), I got so upset when I found out that KY has not packed her school bag despite saying "Yes" yesterday when i found her playing on her iPad or
even doing her artwork(her first love!).

I told myself to calm down and let her pack her bag in peace. However, when clocks ticks away at 6.25am, she's still packing her bag. On her To Do List before being rushed off
to school, she has to wear her uniform, tie her hair (to a neat bun as required by the chinese school for any children who kept their hang long).

I just couldn't hold my tongue and starts lashing on her. How could she be so lack of discipline and despite my umpteen times of checking with them the day before. In my house,
I've set the rules, bags must be packed before any entertainment activities can be done. Thus, I am fuming mad when such trust is broken.

I felt very upset even at this point of time typing about this.

And i found this Tedtalk really helpful. I think I couldn't use "force" or "scolding" to change the way my child behaves. I have to change ...starting from myself.
To have more patience and to slow down.

I hope you all will find benefits, much thought-provoking reviews and inspirations from this Tedtalk as well:

Cheers to a happier and slower day for us all!
