Another favourite quick dish- Yee Mee

Hi folks,
I made this using just 10minutes....
First stir-fry vege ham, tofu, mixed vege, mushroom in olive oil then
add seasoning and some water.
Then add in the yee mee(a type of pre-fried noodles) . Simmer awhile
(1-2 mins, depends how u prefer the texture of the noodles, for softer
bite, simmer for 5mins) and serve hot. Yummy....my two kids loves
this, so do DH & I ;)

Cheers!

Favourite Quickie Yummy Dish

When I am with two kids at home and hubby is not around. The first
thing I do early in the morning is to make a pot of soup.

Then I have the choice of just make a pot of rice or noodles as the
lunch for me and kids.

Here is one of them. Soup base is from the soup I made earlier. And I
just add in some vegetables and etc.

This makes a wholesome and yummy dish for my family. All-time
favourite, soup with noodle or rice...

What is your quickie dish you love to make for your family?

Care to share?

Cheers!

Rock up with Rock sugar egg noodle

Tah dah…my rock sugar noodle for my birthday…to ROCK me up. If you read my post about what special dish you normally eat during your birthday here, I was being introduced to this special Teochew dish by a non-Teochew friend, JS, who having the same birthday as me(minus the year..he’s more senior..hehe…).

And for the noodle, I specially added some kelps following the Korean style…I remembered one Korean drama they mentioned about taking kelps soup on their birthday…so I added plenty into mine for that extra iron and calcium.

Actually I made this on my “sickish” day..was down with fever(yea..on my birthday if you read my post here) and trying to make some soup and brunch then suddenly remembered this dish to try out…

And how was it? The verdict is….it TASTE yummy..and Jo(if you are reading this…) the sugary egg taste ok…BUT I must admit I prefer my egg salty for soupy noodle..haha…but at the end I don’t have the strength and patience to wait till the sugary water turn dry(if you see how to cook here), I just scoop the egg up when it is ready cooked..but at the end I drank the sugar water…it taste just like “tong sui” or those sweet desserts/soup we take.

So..are you Teochew and do you need some food to ROCK you up?

Try this dish if you dare..haha..

Cheers!

Fried Rice in 6mins?

This morning, my son woke up at 5am and refused to sleep until almost 7am. And when he finally sleep, I was thinking better get some sleep myself before waking up to prepare breakfast and lunch for myself and DH.

Ever since I had my tooth extraction on Tue, I counted my DH has been eating noodles for more than 4 meals (minus the supper…not sure how much noodles he made during one of his usual supper)…felt really bad….

So last night I have pre-cooked a pot of rice for either lunch for today or dinner tonight depends whether I managed to get up on time to prepare the lunch in the morning rush hour…..paiseh.. :P

So when my son finally woke up up at 7.30am..phew..i quickly carry him to his playpen…then cut some pear and put it into his feeder net (Munchkin - Fresh Food feeder) then off I went to chop some vege ham and mushroom. After these few acts..time shows 7.42am, eiks Do I still in time to prepare the fried rice? Argghh…don’t waste time pondering…let’s get into action…off I went to fried the rice I have pre-cooked while my DH helped to prepare our breakfast, bread with kaya spread while entertaining our screaming son who has finished his yummy pear.

Voila, guess how much time I have used to cook the fried rice? 6 minutes…wow..what  a record(for me that is..haha)! So I guess I can imagine if rice and side ingredients are prepare in advance we can always cook up a meal- fried rice in less than 10mins …not too bad right? I bet the hawker stall owner/chef in the restaurant can do much better job than me..but well to me is not too bad since my record time for a meal (dinner or lunch) is within 30mins (noodle soup would be within 20mins). So most of the time, what’s for dinner dear? The answer would generally depends on how much time we have versus how hungry is OUR stomach after coming back from work and fetching children which average about 7pm+.

So to my DH, sorry for those noodle meals…hope that my tooth and gum recover soon(still swelling now)…and I be up and running mom cum wife as usual again. When? How about tonight "toothy and gummy" plz.....ok?

Cheers!
