Happy Birthday Sis!

Hi folks!

Today marks the birthday of my elder Sister, Irvin!

This is my favourite picture taken during last CNY, 3 sisters with 3 babies!
Can you spot which one is my elder sister, Irvin? Nope, not the first one on the left...that's my mom, though everytime we go out, people says she looks like my sister! Haha...yep...it's the one in pink shirt in the middle, carrying her baby girl!

My roommate used to tell me that having a sibling(especially same gender) is such a blessings as we get to share jokes, secrets and our ups and down!

My sister and I are one year apart, so we do get to share a lot in common indeed.

We shared the same:
1) Nursery, schools(from primary to secondary) and nearly the same college too until I got scholarship to study at another college that is!
2) Same bunch of friends we used to hang out with
3) Same parent and relatives (lol...of course lar!!!)
4) Very close married and pregnancy times which then again makes us share almost the same topic of conversation ranging from marriage preparation, pregnancy woes, and now parenting!
5) What else same ya...sis? (if you reading this now...haha)

Even though we share similar childhood experiences yet when we grew up, each of us encounter different experiences which made up what we are today!

But, one thing remains the same, whenever we face any problems or need a listening ear, we knew who to call!

So, Irvin(or we call her "dajie" at home), Happy 3? Birthday to you!

May you have a Great Yearssssss Ahead!

Thanks for being there for me when I need it!

Cheers!

A Special Tribute to a Lovely Lady

Today is the birthday of my aunt, Alicia.

She is a remarkable lady to me.

B'cos of her, I researched on WAHM as it was her goal and dream many years back to be a WAHM. I used to chat with her a lot as I am staying very close to her then during my college years as well as when I first started working .

To reached her goal, she has tried many things, from MLM, home-business in cake-making, hamper delivering to fish cake business. She never stop at anything to reach her goal to achieve work life balance and spend more time with her three children(my cousins).

And right now, she's almost there or I should say quite at it now...working from home in Australia(she finally migrated there for the sake of her children's education).

She's been the pillar of strength for her families. She is also the one who kept the family connected and filled with tradition.

On my wedding she even helped me to prepare those traditional Tang yuan(see picture). I really have to thank her being being my pillar of strength too during those blurry times being a young college student and working adult. She's like a mom and friend to me during those times as I don't get to go back to my hometown dat often then as I am always working during semester break else I'll be travelling or joining camps or etc. Never been a @home kid I supposed.

Now, although I have not been able to see her(I can't display her picture here without her permission! But she is certainly a lovely and gungho lady!) or chat with her as often, but deep down I am sure she's still the forever Alive, Active and Passionate person at Down Under.

I wish her All the BEST of health and May Lady Luck Smiling at her at all times...protecting her and family...and bless them too!

Happy Birthday Aunt Alicia! May my family & I able to visit them in Australia very soon!

Cheers!

How did your Raya break goes?

Hi folks, i think one of the common thing we loved being in a multi-
racial like Malaysia besides the multi- ethnic food would be the loads
of festive holidays of different races... From Raya, Deepavali,
Chinese New Year to Christmas...fabulous time to rest, recharge n
spent some time with family n frens..

So how did your Raya break goes? I spent the first n second day of
Raya with my in- law as my parents are back to Johor to attend my
cousin's 20.09.09 auspicious wedding day... We spent the firat day
resting n eating plus doing a bit of post raya shopping haha less
crowd but sales still on. Bought myself a pair of shoes.... For coming
weekend wedding dinner plus something not to high for everyday wear
carrying a baby and holding a toddler... Something noticeable i.e my
wardrobe changed dramatically after becoming a mom.

Second day, 21st Sep was my fil, sister n Godsis birthday.. So we had
a small celeb with fil...

Taking this chance to wish my two Sisters- HAPPy BeLatEd BirtHdaY!

Cheers!

Happy Father’s Day(Belated) to DH

Another Father's Day posting..this time to the Father of my kids.

This cake was bought during my family side(sponsored by my younger sis, Eu and erm..dunno who else ler..paiseh) during our 5 in 1 celebration for June- my birthday, Father's day(for 3 dads in our house, my dad, DH and my bil), my son's birthday, my father's birthday and my brother homecoming of sort (away from industrial training but being the youngest in our family..it means a lot to us that our little brother has moved away from us a bit further and being grown up hehe..)

Yesterday I got KY to wish DH – Happy Father's Day to DH and give him a big hug. I was wondering at 2 yrs plus, does she even knows what is Father's Day and whether she would do as what I taught her to do..yep she did…perfectly…even though it's the first time this term "Happy Father's Day" comes to her..Thank God…:P else it'll be so funny rite…(cos silly me I didn't teach her earlier but right on the spot in front of my DH..and if she doesn't get it..wouldn't it be so erm…un-romantic? :P hehe)

Anyhow, Thank God KY picks it up fast and spontaneously! Haha…save my day and blunder..

To my DH, thanks for being a great hubby and father to our kids…please take good care of your health while working hard to provide warm, shelter and love to us…we LOVE u lots…Big Big HUGSSS from three of us..mmuuahhh..

Father's Day cum Dad's Birthday update

How was your Father's Day yesterday? I celebrated with my dad much earlier(together with my brother who's back from Penang). And yesterday my dad went back to hometown to celebrate with his father-in-law for Father's Day. My dad lost his dad(my grandpa passed away rather early) in his early teens. So he treasured and respected his fil a lot.

I remembered how he mentioned a no. of times to plan our trip back to visit our grandparents (with kids on tow...which takes a bit of planning and grit determination to drive 4-5 hours back to Johor)..why takes so long? Cos half way have to stop to visit numerous relatives..(We FINALLY made the trip during 2009 CNY-see picture above, the one in army green pants sitting down is my dad and beside him in blue shirt is my grandpa).

Anyway, coming back to Father's Day and my dad...in my memory my dad is sort of a WAHF(Work at home father)  even when we were young. Being an electrician..he manage to work around his working time to fit in his schedule to drive us to school, sports activities and etc. I still remembered my dad used to pack very yummy lunch for me and sister when we had to stay back for sports practice.

Even though like all kids, I dislikes my dad to nag at me...but somehow I think it's his nagging that I will be missing most in future or even now when I am married and no longer seeing him on daily basis.

So, I like to take this opportuniy to wish my dad- Happy Father's Day & Happy Birthday. Thank you for all your sacrifices for us!

Rock up with Rock sugar egg noodle

Tah dah…my rock sugar noodle for my birthday…to ROCK me up. If you read my post about what special dish you normally eat during your birthday here, I was being introduced to this special Teochew dish by a non-Teochew friend, JS, who having the same birthday as me(minus the year..he’s more senior..hehe…).

And for the noodle, I specially added some kelps following the Korean style…I remembered one Korean drama they mentioned about taking kelps soup on their birthday…so I added plenty into mine for that extra iron and calcium.

Actually I made this on my “sickish” day..was down with fever(yea..on my birthday if you read my post here) and trying to make some soup and brunch then suddenly remembered this dish to try out…

And how was it? The verdict is….it TASTE yummy..and Jo(if you are reading this…) the sugary egg taste ok…BUT I must admit I prefer my egg salty for soupy noodle..haha…but at the end I don’t have the strength and patience to wait till the sugary water turn dry(if you see how to cook here), I just scoop the egg up when it is ready cooked..but at the end I drank the sugar water…it taste just like “tong sui” or those sweet desserts/soup we take.

So..are you Teochew and do you need some food to ROCK you up?

Try this dish if you dare..haha..

Cheers!

Weekend with KY

Last weekend, my babysitter was "on leave", yup they apply leave too sometimes...she's attending her niece's wedding in Kelantan.

So me and DH took turns to stay home and be with our kids.

Here are some pictures(above) I took during my weekend(Fri, Sat and Sun) with KY.

Did I say how KY loves to blow candle..haha..nope her birthday is in July....so when she got up on Sat morning, she remembered her dad's birthday cake(DH birthday was on Fri-29 May) and requested for it...

So I brought it out from the fridge and brought her a spoon and plate. Then KY said mom..I want it with candles...haha..then I understood what she meant..she wanna sing birthday song and have cake-cutting ceremony again..haha..kids..btw the other two pic was taken during our stroll at the park and pool...so long since we last have a stroll there...it was GREAT! Love to have this lovely dotter and mommy time...

Cheers for the rest of the weekdays!

June 09 Special Post

Hello folks, why June is special to me?

Because it happened to be both Shone & my birthday plus it is Father’s Day month =).

As a seemingly ritual for me since young, I would like to accomplished or clear off some task before my birthday and one of them would be reflection done on past actions and look forward towards the future with formulation of life goals and direction.

I did this before UPSR (Primary exam Standard Six exam in Malaysia), before PMR (Secondary Form Three exam in Malaysia) and after SPM before heading to college/university. And I did it again once graduated from my university degree and stepping into working world.

And I roughly formulated (in my mind) when I would want to start having a serious relationship (wow..some of you might said..but yep I did just that..crazy? haha..it’s just an estimation and guide for me then) and after that honestly, I have been like taking life as it comes…no more formulating plans after I got married, have kids as things just swifted in and happened so quickly that I have no time to think or plan (haha..yep..). And when you are married with kids..even more so that seems like no time to plan and even if you do plan most of time, whether or not your plans work out depends on varies factors…

Anyway, coming to a special stage now (being the last no. 2 on my age), I would like to again reflect on my past and start at least having a rough plan or guide. Even if it doesn’t follow exactly as what I have planned…at LEAST, it won’t go too far off…and life won’t be just  a blank chapter.

So stay tuned for more of my June posting…after my thought been skimmed through and plans are formulated…

Shall not write too long a post..as I PERSONALLY  do not like to read long blog posting as well..kekeke

Cheers to all!

What special stuff you ate or always eat or plan to eat on your birthday?

Recently a friend of mine (who has the same birthday as I am and coincidently his dotter’s birthdate..yes birthdate here means even the year is the same as my dotter..how small can this world of coincidence be haha..try getting a table full of-means 10 pax the same birthdate all being your friends..wow…ONG- “lucky” man…)

Anyway just like to share this recipe he shared with me…Rock Sugar Noodles which is a traditional Teochew dish that is served for VIPs only. So taking this on your birthday (being a Teochew descendant I am) supposed to give me some ONG so to speak…haha…well at least this is what I would like to think it ..ha..ha…

So core ingredients would be:

  • Egg
  • Noodle
  • Rock sugar
  • Water

That’s all.

Steps:

Put some rock suger in water and boil it until it is boiled and melted. Then, u put in the egg (of coz without the shell). Be careful not to break the yolk. We need to turn our fire to minimum now and then slow cook.

Note: Noodle is to be cooked separately or we can just add just egg as dessert, but for birthday normally these two items are eaten together.

So after put in the egg, stir really slowly on one way (either clock wise or anti-clockwise). This is to prevent the egg from sticking to the bottom of the pan/pot and at the same time to keep the egg in nice, round shape. Then, stir a while as we can see the egg white cooked a bit, and then we can let it stay a while (for 3 to 5 minutes) until the egg yolk is cooked.

Then we can have a bowl of rock sugar egg noodle and it will rock us up! Yeah…ONG..ONG…haha..

Cheers to all! Wait till after I experiment with this recipe and update the outcome of it..haha….

The coming of 30s…

Well..not yet …at least not this year…but coming June I will be seeing my last age starting with “2”(opps..am I revealing my age here? Well..it’s not a secret to me..at least not now..maybe when I hit the no. 3)

Last weekend when I was planning to celeb for my sil and hubby(both falls on May), I can’t help but contemplating about my life (it’s been my habit ever since in my teens to do such yearly assessment and reflection before my birthday each year), what have I done(rather than accomplished..too big a word for me.. :P )..and what would I hope to do (accomplish yes this time this word..does sounds suitable)….in 10 years time(during my thirties that is)

What have many people (around me) in their thirties?

  1. My two bosses set up their company
  2. My Microeconomics lecturer taking his final paper in ACCA
  3. My many friends being married and soon being pregnant becoming a mom (yep I am one of the few(I think) amongst my gang to got married and becoming mom before hitting 30’s
  4. So…what does Molly planning and wanting to achieve in her thirties? Still in thoughts…but will certainly put in down in black & white as concrete as it is..as I believe if we don’t plan our life…time can flies without clear objective..it might just flies with no concrete/meaningful adventures…and THAT is certainly not what I hoped for!

By the way, one friend of mine  (who’s having the same birthdate as I do, even though older than me few years) have suggested I take a day off for ME time..well much that I would love such idea…BUT..hmm.. as working parents we might need to take EL or AL sometimes..so leave application is such an important decision…how about for birthday..erm..not yet a valid reason for me…but we’ll see…haha..

And the friend shared with me a recipe that I should take on my birthday..Rock Sugar Egg(a traditional Teochew dish eaten during birthday which supposed to means that you are a VIP).supposingly can give me some pick-me-up…so stay tuned for my updates on this…at least this is one item that I will be doing on my birthday…something to give me some ONG(good luck)!

Cheers to All…do you all have anything to share about your birthdayssss? I am all EARS!
