One of my Favourite Hakka dish

Hi folks,

Is there any dish you won't get tired eating it over and over again?

For me it is Loi Cha, a typical Hakka dish made with young tea leaves, with crushed/mashed mint leaves, basil leaves and some other ingredients as paste to make the gravy/ greeny soup that goes with a bowl of rice coupled with freshly lightly boiled/stir-fry vegetables(at least 3 types of vegetables) with some peanuts, some add sweetcorn and even tofu.

Very yummy and nutritious dish. I used to eat it a lot while I was having very bad morning sickness during my first pregnancy. And it is one of the few dishes I don't threw up then...talking about being pregnant and the vomiting spells I had(You can check out more entries about me having Hyper Emesis Graviduram here, and here and here)

What is your favourite dish of all time?

Favourite Quickie Yummy Dish

When I am with two kids at home and hubby is not around. The first
thing I do early in the morning is to make a pot of soup.

Then I have the choice of just make a pot of rice or noodles as the
lunch for me and kids.

Here is one of them. Soup base is from the soup I made earlier. And I
just add in some vegetables and etc.

This makes a wholesome and yummy dish for my family. All-time
favourite, soup with noodle or rice...

What is your quickie dish you love to make for your family?

Care to share?

Cheers!

Yummy trip at MoonGarden

Last weekend, my dad came to help me out with my babysitter on leave...and DH suggested going out for dinner at ShiangHai VegetarianRestaurant at Sunway(one of our favourite which served sushi..yummy yummy), then I suddenly remembered a friend and another colleague of mine suggested this vegetarian restaurant at USJ called MoonGarden.

So, DH called our friend for the exact location while we off scouting for that restaurant....the restaurant is located at Taipan, USJ10  near Maybank and HLK electrical shop.

Looking at their menu and surrounding, we were immediately smitten by it...lovely food...I ordered my favourite spaghetti while hubby ordered his favourite mushroom soup+ pizza and my dad ordered the vegetarian prawn noodles(supposingly to be chef recommendation)...plus we added a mango juice for KY and a pumpkin bun for Shone.

It was really yummy food for all! DH suggested we visit again the next day for lunch when he saw some other set meal which he like to try..haha..so yep we went back again on Sun but for dinner as afternoon is too hot plus it was the kids' napping hour.

Three of us tried their 3 different set meal and it was really yummy as well...

We have not been eating out much lately but for last weekend it was a special one as it was DH birthday on Fri and I have not been able to bake him cake and pizza as planned since our oven was down.....so in return I said yes(which I don’t normally nod for two non-special occasion eating out trip..had to be prudent…with two kids, one car and one house to pay for every month..rite…so well since it was DH birthday, we’ll make it an exception…haha)

So folks if you are looking out for some nice vegetarian restaurant to spend time with your loved ones..you might like to give MoonGarden a try! ;) The price is like within RM10 for food plus drink depending what you are ordering...not too bad...plus you can then go shopping at Summit USJ(we went for Popular Warehouse sales after meal.. ;) managed to get some lovely items there at cheap bargain!)

Till our next yummy trip adventures..

Cheers!

Does your Men/DH cooks?

Even though most big chef are men(you may disagree with me), but most of the household cooks are mainly women.

How many of you has a male cook at home? Personally, I have a friend whose father is not only a good cook but he renovated his kitchen to be like those hotel kitchen whereby he can cook over big fire…haha I think you guys know what I meant….compared to our conventional gas stove that most household own. And he is so into cooking that he even engage chef to teach him how to cook those special dishes. (wow….)

Another notable real-life example around me would be my bil who even during his courting days with my sister, he often cook dishes like nasi lemak, curry etc (he’s from Malacca so most of his dishes are spicy ones..:P ) and is really as yummy as what you can find at those hawker stalls or eateries.

Even though my DH hardly cooks, but he is very good at it (theoretically). At one mouthful or one sip or one look, he can tells me what seasoning, ingredients or cooking method is missing(like over-cooked or steps not in right sequence)…which sometimes makes me “FIRE” yet I am very thankful for his comment as I am a better cook now(well..if he hears this I think there’s a long road to go…still lotsa improvement to be made).

Lately while we trying to bring lunch from home and cook simple dishes for dinner due to the fact that by the time we got home, it was rather late and elaborate dinner would mean very very late dinner. DH has offered several times to help me with the dinner preparation (which mostly consist of noodle soup or “kon lou”-dried noodles with soup as side dishes). And it is real yummy even without or with little other ingredients. Even if he cook only empty kon lou noodle(yep with nothing at all…) it taste SO GOOD! Though, I would often offer to prepare vegetables and other side dishes to make it a more wholesome meal.

And, few days back, while I was preparing to fried vermicelli for our lunch, my son suddenly poo poo, thus I asked DH whether he could help to change the diaper and wash Shone’s bottom, yet he took up the challenge and offered to fried the vermicelli instead..haha...why I said challenge? ‘Cos besides kon lou noodle, burger, rojak, instant noodle (yup that’s all I think), I have yet to taste the vermicelli cooked by him!

And the result…voila…it is YUMMY allrite!

Plus, the main point is I am happy to know that my DH don’t mind or willing to chip in with meal preparation now…

Fried Rice in 6mins?

This morning, my son woke up at 5am and refused to sleep until almost 7am. And when he finally sleep, I was thinking better get some sleep myself before waking up to prepare breakfast and lunch for myself and DH.

Ever since I had my tooth extraction on Tue, I counted my DH has been eating noodles for more than 4 meals (minus the supper…not sure how much noodles he made during one of his usual supper)…felt really bad….

So last night I have pre-cooked a pot of rice for either lunch for today or dinner tonight depends whether I managed to get up on time to prepare the lunch in the morning rush hour…..paiseh.. :P

So when my son finally woke up up at 7.30am..phew..i quickly carry him to his playpen…then cut some pear and put it into his feeder net (Munchkin - Fresh Food feeder) then off I went to chop some vege ham and mushroom. After these few acts..time shows 7.42am, eiks Do I still in time to prepare the fried rice? Argghh…don’t waste time pondering…let’s get into action…off I went to fried the rice I have pre-cooked while my DH helped to prepare our breakfast, bread with kaya spread while entertaining our screaming son who has finished his yummy pear.

Voila, guess how much time I have used to cook the fried rice? 6 minutes…wow..what  a record(for me that is..haha)! So I guess I can imagine if rice and side ingredients are prepare in advance we can always cook up a meal- fried rice in less than 10mins …not too bad right? I bet the hawker stall owner/chef in the restaurant can do much better job than me..but well to me is not too bad since my record time for a meal (dinner or lunch) is within 30mins (noodle soup would be within 20mins). So most of the time, what’s for dinner dear? The answer would generally depends on how much time we have versus how hungry is OUR stomach after coming back from work and fetching children which average about 7pm+.

So to my DH, sorry for those noodle meals…hope that my tooth and gum recover soon(still swelling now)…and I be up and running mom cum wife as usual again. When? How about tonight "toothy and gummy" plz.....ok?

Cheers!
