Finger Counting Shone

One.....

Actually Shone is trying to show "GOOD" sign, but somehow both Shone and KY tend to show the index/pointer finger instead of thumb for "Good" sign/thumbs-up! Not sure why, does your kids do the same?

And this is FOUR..

Not sure where he learnt this...perhaps he's trying to tell others that he is now 4 years old and can follow his jie jie to nursery!!!

Haha...

Fallen Little Hero

Skinny and Sick Shone(DH took this pic on the first night he is down with throat ulcer)...it pains me to see him in this state! When I stroke his back, can feel his bone...in just one single day which he refused milk or water....due to throat ulcer.

Before this he had cough at night. How did it became throat ulcer? Haih..this mommy has not been paying extra attention!

Anyone has any good remedies to build up better immune system? I read somewhere that Echinacea helps...gonna try asking the Pharmacist!

Pray that Shone will get well and bubbly soon!

Gambatei Shone! Miss ur cheeky smiles! Muahh...

A Visit to Dr. Koe clinic

This is our second time visiting Dr. Koe. The first time was when both Shone and I had thrush (remember the post here about the daktarin gel). This time, Shone had a crying fit whole night. He would wake up every 1 1/2 hr and cry non-stop. He had fever last weekend but after giving him fever medication, it subsided. Then it came back again. He had flu and cough too. When I check the net, I suspected it might be ear infection? Then I thought since he refused to be nursed(first time in the history), he might be having throat infection like KY?(KY is very proned to getting throat infection due to the fact that she loves to eat biscuit and don't like to drink water.). Alas Dr. Koe diagnosed it as throat ulcers and Shone having two ulcers!(Ouch...no wonder he cried so hard and refused to even drink his nen nen or plain water..poor guy...he only had two bottles of yakult for the entire morning.

As usual, it is very crowded and we waited quite long. As Dr. Koe is really patient and details in her checking and answering the questions raised by her patient.

We reach there around 9.15am and when it is our turn, we saw that the clock is almost 11am. Should have arrived at 9am sharp!

Anyway, am truly grateful that we managed to find a "nearby" parking space as normally it's kinda hard to get a parking space here.

Anyone who interested to check out this Ped who is also a lactation consultant can refer to her details here:
(Call before you go, they opens at 9am but I think they rest on Thurs..if I am not mistaken)
Dr Koe Swee Lee

Hopefully Shone recovers soon..it ached my heart seeing him cry like that...poor little baby.

Can all aunties/uncles out there pray together for the FAST recovery of Shone?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Note: By the way, for the winners of my first blog giveaway, please accept my apology for late delivery of your prizes as I am running here and there zombie-like with two kids(and now DH's turn after I recovered slightly) down with fever, cough and flu one after another.

My first experience BF a toddler

Dear folks,

Remember my posting here about trying to BF as long as Shone wants it probably till he is 2 years old.

Now, this is my first time BF-ing a toddler as KY weaned at 12 months old.

Now I must say it is yet another new experience for me being a BF mom.

There are a lot of mommies out there who BF beyond 1 year old and it's an inspiration to me really!

Now,coming to BF beyond 1 year old experience,I have the following items to note(don't we love point form to speed up reading and remembering :) )
  • I am surprised to find Shone's reaction when I BF him at night. As we are still co-sleeping, he would search and cry for nen-nen(a.k.a milk) with his eyes close and then he would either smile or keep his eyes shut while he starts filling up his midnite hunger strike or comfort strike
  • After BF session, this toddler boy can go showing "good"sign, then clap his hand and say hurray!! (don't that encourages and marvels you further to continue BF :P..well I doubt he does that after she drank his milk using milk bottle- oh yes, I currently mixed BF as my supply is insufficient to fulfill his need as I am not pumping as often as I should)
  • He recovers within 2-3 days from diarrhea and vomit recently without needing to take any antibiotics(I THank God for this!)
And I shall update more about my experience about BF a toddler as I continue on this superb journey! God willings, Shone persevere and mommy shall continue to enjoy this bonding and special with my boy who shall soon be a grown up boy like his jiejie KY ;) and I bet I will miss these moments in future...holding my little baby close to me....oh... :D

Cheers!

Shone Milestone at 15 months

Dear folks,

It's been quite sometime since I last update milestone for Shone. Last update at 12 months here.

Now, at 15 months, he is still being BF. Lucky boy that he still insist to be BF at night when we are both home.

KY stopped at 12 months due to teething and the fact that my milk supply dwindled so much as I was commuting far to a new workplace plus busy getting our new house ready.

These are the little write up on Shone at 15 months as much as this mommy's failing memory can recall.
  • Language - able to say words, xie xie(for thank you), nen-nen(milk), en-tie(for auntie), ern-cle(for uncle), che che(his first word), dah-dee(for daddy), mah-mee(for mommy), bao bao(high pitch for carry me,low pitch for bread), xie-zi(for shoes), kai-kai (for going out trip), ter(for water),erm....good(for yummy food incl. breastmilk),tau-liao-lor(means reach home/bbsitter's place oredi)
  • Games he likes playing - Hide n Seek - behind curtains, beside mommy's big bed, space in between the wall and cupboard, che che(KY's) tricycle, drawer box as his pretend car
  • Gadgets he took to his liking- daddy's laptop and keyboard+ mouse, daddy's handphone,TV remote control
  • Food intake - Drink 7oz milk twice daytime, thrice(amount unknown-direct BF) at night, have two meals of assortment of noodles, rice-with soup or porridge(adult food with less salt), tried ice-cream and currently his favourite, loves orange juice, grapes, papaya, avocado, no liking for guava, can eat non-stop like che che KY :P
  • Taken ubat cacing(worm medication at 15 months at govt. clinic), Weighted at 11.2kg slightly slow growth which partly due to recent attacks of diarrhea and vomitting
  • Had diarrhea and vomit attacks a week before the diarrhea attack, recovers within 2 days- Sentosa Medical Ped advice no milk till he finished two bottles of Gatorade(1 oz of water mix with 6oz of Gatorade)
  • Favourite songs- sing twinkle2 little start with star gestures ends with hands clapping and say hip hip hurray(with both hands high up), Incy Wincy Spider, any fast moving track which he would dance along
  • Hygiene: Started brushing his own teeth and frequent handwashing
  • Started learning to jump on the bed and loves chasing after her sister and daddy
That's all mommy can recall now...Shall update about KY in my next post...been neglecting her a bit....really...

Cheers!

First shoes for Shone

Last few weekends, I bought a shoes I thought would fit Shone from Tesco(when he is barely learning how to walk) but failed...cannot fit..sigh..I blog about it here . As for Chinese, or at least my mom believe can only let baby wear a shoes after his 1 year old birthday. So since Shone had reached 1 year old then yet haven't really started walking, I still persisted in my shoes-hunting adventure~

Anyhow, it's never easy to buy a shoes for babies/toddler without their presence. Need the owner presence to test it out.

Finally last weekend I managed to find one for him..from Jusco, Anakku brand.

Actually, before this I was looking for those soft sole shoes like Shoos Shoos or Bugalog brand..but their biggest size(24months) does not seems to fits my son's large and chubby feet...and considering the price..he would outgrown him VERY VERY SOON...so..not worth investing in my case otherwise I simply love the quality of their shoes!

Would soon be shopping for a sandal for him as he inherited my easily-sweaty feet!

Cheers!

Swimming adventures

Last two weekends, after Sunway Lagoon trip was cancelled, in the afternoon around 4.45pm, we brought my two kids go swimming at our apartment after their nap.

KY is so excited as it's been sometime since we last took her to swim! Her first swim was when she was 5 months old. Then now and then when the weather is fine and when we happened to be at home, we would bring them to swim.

She is so excited and wanted to learn to swim(without her swimming ring) after watching another jie jie swimming in the pool. She spent like close to an hour in the pool.

It was Shone first swim(at 1 year-old) and I scooped Shone up after like 20 mins in the pool splashing water and went up my unit to shower. After both of us took our shower( and blow my hair even) we went down to pick up the jie jie(DH is with her).

However, KY still refused to come up from the pool, then i brought Shone for a walk at the pool side and fish pond for like 10-15 mins, still...my girl refused to come out from the pool...DH said why not you go up and come down 30minutes later?

As it was rather hot, I wanted to go to the mini market to buy an ice-cream(my fav :P) but realised I forgot to bring any $. Then suddenly I thought why not I go up again to my unit, bring some $ down and buy me some ice-cream and try to TEMPT KY with it. Perhaps that would make her come out from the POOL!

So I went and practically shout and SHOW OFF my ice-cream at poolside :P ( I think I managed to TEMPT not only her but many kids at the kids pool :P..this mommy..must be losing her mind??)...anyway I didn't care...kept calling her..and LICK my ice-cream..Mango Tango(yep the new flavour from Walls..not bad..)

And finally..it works ;) she obediently leave the pool and came after me for ice-cream..hahah..

So folks, this is one of my tricks :P which succeeded.. it works !

Cheers!

Milestone updates- Shone at 12 months 3 weeks

Shone seems to walking almost around the same time as his older sister, KY or slightly later...

He is now busy practising his walking skills at every given opportunity- or rather every waking moments
and every time we allow him roaming freely out of his playpen.

He would wake up almost 5am daily at the early days when he discovered he could walk with mommy on tow..watching his every steps..

And by now, he has developed:
-Two big molar(back bottom teeth)
- Recognised and can point or speak
  • star
  • dog
  • jie jie
  • mommie or mie
  • Dee for Daddy
  • nen nen
  • etc etc
- Can sing(in his baby language/sound) with action his favourite or rather mom's constant playlist
  • Twinkle-twinkle Little Star - his fingers can even make the star twinkling...just have to salute him..I doubt I do this at his age.
  • Incy Windy Spider - with hand moving up to represent Sun, and the little finger moving as in spider moving..cute
  • Happy Birthday Song - with hands-clapping, Shone first pick up clapping on his birthday celebration (wait for my picture updates on his little party
  • Finger song: Where is thumbkin, where is thumbkin" and "Lu-La-Le"
- Loves watching Mr. Bean, 100,000 Whys ("shi wan ge wei shen me" - my sis helped me to get it during her China's trip), Karaoke CD's sing along  with his sister, KY.

I can see that Shone really loves singing, dancing and music...

Like KY, he dance before he can walk....

That's the update for now..I think pictures says it better..stay tune for some pictures update soon.

Cheers!
